Poppy

The poppy, also known as Ponceau, red poppy or opium poppy, is one of the favorite subjects of painters of flowers and inspired many Impressionists, including Claude Monet.

To name just a few: Georges Braque, Vincent Van Gogh, Kees Van Dongen and those who honored la Provence, Pierre Ambrogiani and Michel Vézinet.

As of April in Europe, this flower covers fields like a dress.

Its name was written "coquelicoq", a variant of the old French "coquerico", a metaphor for the rooster, establishing a relationship between the color of the flower and that of the bird’s crest.

Symbol of Morpheus, the god of dreams and sleep in Greek and Roman mythologies, it embodies the passion in the language of flowers.

This series came to my mind at the end of the rough winter of 2013, at the announcement of spring. In need of lightness.
