Flowers galore
Of themes suggested for this stamp collection, “flowers” were most obvious.
Surprisingly, I found myself at once thinking about the theme’s format.
Simplifying outlines. Playing with colour, adding contrasts to the mix.
Increasing contours and curves whilst exploring with imagination music humming in my head.
Remaining in reality about a flower’s true shape without compromising its characteristics.
A gateway to many worlds. Shapes, colours, scents.
Every flower is in harmony with a season.
“Flowers” --- a wonderful theme. Where all is said.
Where all remains to be said. And, where all ought to be said.
There are so many interpretations, experiences, dreams, imaginary realms.
By one paint brush stroke, pollen curls away in the wind.
By another, Lily of the valley miniature bells resonate in a nascent breeze.
At first gleams of morning dawn crossing the studio, to an orange sunset, all is present, like alchemy transforming metal into gold.
Out of my paint brush yet again, a petal like a tear.
Or this one, hiding in the shadow cast by an enormous palm tree.
Always simplifying because space is reluctant to details and motion.
And choosing among all these blossoms, those that will draw up attention.
Like so many possible worlds.
To create a collection, in this orchestral arrangement, do we really need all instruments to play as one?
Each tone is a self-contained world and an extension of another.
